Celebratory Sale

To celebrate the release of Athirat Rising, the third of our quality systemless investigative scenarios, all three of our scenarios are only $2.99/£1.93 on DriveThruRPG!

Proudly Presenting: Athirat Rising

Athirat Rising is the newest release from Arcane Footpad, set in the grimy punk backwaters of London.

Art by Sam Helyer
A naive and impressionable young man has become attached to Eternity, an eccentric punk and latest belle of London's underground music scene. Now he's disappeared, Eternity's music has taken a strange turn towards the otherworldly and Eternity himself has been preaching about the coming of a mystical force to claim the world for itself. Along with his small cabal of contacts, including a tattooist who can turn his designs into powerful wards and sigils and an ex-cop hallucinogen dealer. Eternity plans to build the ultimate instrument to allow his strange god to materialise.
Athirat Rising is a character-driven investigation into the disappearance of Christopher Foster a wannabe punk in London. Features include:

- Eccentric characters with identifiable tics and traits, strengths and weaknesses to help GMs  bring them to life and experience the weirder members of London's underground.

- Tattoo based magic with tips and ideas for incorporating it into your game along with villains that utilise it

- Grimy and atmosphere-rich locations from Eternity's otherworldly apartment that is starting to dissociate from our reality to the Dirty Palm, the watering hole for many of the less desirable and outright nasty members of the scene.

-Handy Character Reference Sheet and Handouts for the players

This scenario is ideal for 2-5 investigators and is set in modern day London. The scenario is system free, though guidance is provided on running all characters and encounters. The adventure focuses on player interaction and puzzle solving and should be enjoyable for any group looking for an investigative game to run for an evening.

Recommended Systems: Any system designed to emulate a real-world/urban fantasy setting should be able to run this scenario with few issues. Atlas Games' Unknown Armies, White Wolf's World of Darkness and Chaosium's Call of Cthulhu all work well and Pelgrane Press' GUMSHOE system would work to emphasise the investigative elements.

Content Warnings: This product contains much drug use and discussion of hallucinations and unreality as well as violence, due to the nature of the setting and genre.

As always our products are always available only at DriveThruRPG, for $2.99/£1.93

If you enjoy this scenario, please let us know either here or on the reviews over at DTRPG.

As you may have noticed, Athirat Rising has not materialised just yet. Rest assured it is in the very final stages of completion but a few technical hitches have prevented release as soon as we had hoped.

This is just a small operation so we hope you'll forgive the delay and Athirat should be available by next Monday at the latest. Thanks for your patience!

Concept Preview and Title Annoucnement: Athirat Rising

So the newest scenario from Arcane Footpad, Athirat Rising is in the final stages of preparation, so here's a glimpse at one of the concept mockups for the new cover:

Athirat Rising is set in the grimy underground of London's punk and body modding underground. As you might imagine this means a lot of unusual characters for your players to try and interact with while they investigate the disappearance of a young wannabe punk...

Athirat Rising is hoped to be released on around the 6th of July, subject to DriveThruRPG approval schedules.

The Next Step

With the release of Dreams in the Tunnels safely out of the way, what's next?
Well, the next in our range of systemless investigations is set to be released in the first week of July (exact date tbc due to processes out of our hands).

Continuing the trend of intensely flavoured locales, this next scenario will be set in the murky underground of London's punk and body modding scene. A musician who produces unearthly wails masquerading as music that can warp the very fabric of time and space, a sorceror who works his craft through enchanted tattoo ink and an old legend about the music of the gods...

Keep an eye on our posts here as for the first five days after release there will be a discount code available for this new release (and maybe for previous titles if you're lucky!)

As always, if you have bought any of our titles, please let us know what you think, here or on the DriveThruRPG review section!

Proudly Presenting Dreams in the Tunnels!

Dreams in the Tunnels is our latest release, available now on DriveThruRPG!

 From DTRPG's description:
2007. The Olympics will be arriving in the ancient city of Beijing in a year’s time. In the meantime there is a legion of administrators, workers, corporations and government officials working to make the city presentable before the flocks of tourists descend. One of the most ambitious projects, spanning the last 6 years, has been the expansion of the oldest subway system in Asia.
A tower block collapses after a subway tunnel is dug through several danger zones that should never have been approved. All the official connections check out but there are complaints among the workforce of blackouts, strange dreams and migraines. Strange radio frequencies have been recorded throughout the city around the time of the accident. Somewhere in the newly built tunnels an old dreamer has made its nest. Through its subtle influences it aims to  construct a great glyph beneath the city but until then it sleeps. Unlike those whose dreams it visits...

This scenario is ideal for 2-5 investigators and is set in modern day Beijing. The scenario is system free, though guidance is provided on running all characters and encounters. The adventure focuses on player interaction and puzzle solving and should be enjoyable for any group looking for an investigative game, especially as a one-shot.

Content Warnings: Due to the nature of Horror games, this product contains discussion of hallucinations and body horror.

As always, please let us know what you think of the scenario!

Looking Forward

So it's been around a month since Preacher-Man came out, and not much noise here. Well don't worry, the next scenario is in the works, but in the meantime we have a couple of smaller player-aids to be released fairly soon to help tide you over! They should help to add some proper spice to your games, especially horror themed ones!

Stay tuned for full details in the near future...
