So What Are We All About?

Arcane Footpad is dedicated to producing high-quality, systemless, investigative role-playing scenarios for GMs and players alike.

Our scenarios are designed to be puzzles. Whether you are a GM looking to challenge your players or a player looking to exercise your deduction skills, each of our scenarios presents a nystery to be solved. The players will have to use their own minds as well as the skills of their characters to unravel the webs of intrigue they encounter.

Why is our main line systemless? Firstly, to make our scenarios as accessible to as many people as possible without the distraction of having numbers from a system you may know nothing about floating around. Secondly, to draw the focus away from the stats and towards interaction. These mysteries are generally geared towards talking to NPCs, exploring locations and puzzle-solving rather than specific skill checks, which (if you're anything like us anyway) many people will make adjustments and additions to to fit their own taste anyway. We know it's not everybody's ideal way to play but we think it works well and we hope you'll give it a try. To aid in picking stats and checks for your system of choice each situation gives guidance about difficulty and each character's proficiencies and key personality traits are highlighted. We provide the setting and the story, all you have to do is pick the numbers!
